    Position Description:

    • Perform system studies with a team of engineers to provide next-generation engineering solutions associated with transmission planning and grid integration of emerging technologies, including wind, solar, and utility-scale energy storage technologies.
    • Conduct grid interconnection studies, including but not limited to steady-state contingency analysis, short circuit assessment, and transient stability studies for renewable projects globally, ensuring compliance with various grid code requirements.
    • Work within a team of transmission planning and generation interconnection engineers to execute transmission planning, grid reliability, grid interconnection, distribution planning, and advanced power system studies.
    • Evaluate the feasibility and application of new FACTS technologies on the transmission system to optimize performance of the transmission system.
    • Support large load customers such as Green Hydrogen developers, hyperscale data center operators, and AI centers in evaluating optimal locations for facility additions.
    • Provide technical expertise and support for system reliability analysis, system strength assessments, and Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) and stability analysis in ERCOT and other deregulated energy markets.
    • Develop algorithms and optimization tools for market accessibility analysis, congestion pricing, and feasibility studies for renewable and fossil-based energy solutions.
    • Assist in the development of advanced optimization tools for evaluating emerging technologies like energy storage on electric grids.
    • Perform generation interconnection and transmission system reliability studies as per ERCOT and other relevant ISO/RTO standards.
    • Coordinate project updates and completion for various renewable energy grid projects.
    • Develop detailed dynamic models for various renewable energy technologies, including wind turbines, solar inverters, and battery storage systems.
    • Perform power system analysis using PowerWorld Simulator, ETAP, PSS/E, ASPEN, PSCAD, and scripting languages like Python.

    Qualifications:

    • Masters in power systems with experience in power system planning, system modeling and grid code compliance studies.
    • Working knowledge of PSS/e, PSCAD-EMTDC, PowerWorld Simulator, ETAP, TSAT and ASPEN Oneliner is preferred for this position

    Position Description:

    • Perform transmission system planning studies with a team of engineers to provide next generation engineering solutions associated with transmission planning and grid integration of emerging technologies including wind, solar and utility scale energy storage technologies.
    • Perform grid interconnection studies including, but not limited to, steady state contingency analysis, short circuit assessment and transient stability studies for renewable projects across the globe and in compliance with various grid code requirements.
    • Work with a team of transmission planning and generation interconnection engineers in performing transmission planning, grid reliability, grid interconnection, distribution planning and advanced power system studies.
    • Perform reliability impact studies associated with integration large data center and/or AI loads in the grid including steady state, short circuit and dynamic modeling & analysis.
    • Assist in performance of Electro-Magnetic Transient (EMT) modeling and analysis including, but not limited to, Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR), Temporary Over-voltage (TOV), Switching Over-voltage (SOV) & Root Cause Analysis (RCA) studies on complex power system networks.
    • Assist in development and testing of next generation dynamic models for technology load facilities such as data centers and AI/high computing facilities.
    • Assist in the development of advanced optimization tools/approaches for the operation and evaluation of emerging technologies like energy storage on the electric grids.
    • Perform generation interconnection and transmission system reliability studies as per ERCOT or other relevant Independent System Operator (ISO) or Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) standards for an in-depth analysis of ability of existing transmission infrastructure to transfer power to target markets.
    • Coordinate engineering / economic project updates and completion associated with various renewable energy grid project design, engineering support and interconnections.
    • Assist in the development of detailed dynamic models for various renewable energy and technology load facilities including but not limited to wind turbines, solar inverters, data center facilities, AI computational facilities and battery storage inverter technologies.
    • Perform power system analysis using software packages such as PowerWorld Simulator, E-TAP, PSS/E, ASPEN, PSCAD etc. with working knowledge of power system simulation automation technique utilizing Python scripting.

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s in Electrical Engineering (power systems or related field)

    Position Description:

    The primary responsibilities of this position include the following. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned:

    • Support and perform comprehensive transmission planning studies including but not limited to full interconnection studies (associated with renewable, storage and emerging technologies), annual planning studies, NERC Compliance studies, small signal stability studies, SSR evaluations, power quality and EMT studies.
    • Perform interconnection studies for electric utility clients along with identifying new transmission solutions needed to reliably integrate the proposed technology into the grid based on the regional reliability criteria.
    • Assist broader EEPLUS team in performing transmission origination, evaluation and recommendation studies for utility clients in order to meet regional reliability criteria, including but not limited to providing technical support during the stakeholder review process.
    • Support team on all aspects of grid integration of large loads and the associated interconnection processes and procedures across all major ISO/RTO markets across the US starting with the ERCOT grid.
    • Perform grid integration studies associated with emerging technologies and large load interconnections for both customers as well as electric utilities. Basic studies are expected to include steady state studies, contingency analysis, motor starting studies and transient stability studies.
    • Work closely with potential customers ranging from data centers, crypto-mining facilities, O&G electrification facilities, hydrogen electrolyzer facilities, EV firms, LNG facilities to guide them through the emerging grid-code compliance guidelines in their relevant ISO/RTO markets.
    • Support in performing more advanced power system studies to support the design and engineering of large load facilities including but not limited to harmonic analysis, transient over-voltage (TOV) studies, Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) studies, voltage-ride through (VRT) compliance studies, ramp rate compliance studies, voltage flicker assessments, switching over-voltage assessments and insulation coordination studies.
    • Perform research associated with the application of data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to power system planning, modeling and analysis, including but not limited to supporting and further developing EEPlus’ proprietary platform, PowerAI.
    • Perform research to assist the team of engineers on development of advanced dynamic models for data center and generative AI loads, including parametrization of the dynamic load models, testing the load models for VRT/FRT compliance and recommendations on equipment augmentation to demonstrate grid code compliance.

    Qualifications:

    • Masters or Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering (power systems or related field)
    • 3-5 years of experience in power system planning, system modeling and grid code compliance studies or related field is preferred for this position.
